JOHN SINGLETON SCHOLARSHIP
The USC Cinema Outreach Foundation advances the well-being of society through its programs of education and research. We encourage participants to provide vital, life-enhancing services and develop leadership for a just and humane world.
Many students are discouraged from continuing their education due to financial barriers. In response, we have established the John Singleton Scholarship. The scholarship fund encourages students to develop their work ethic, leadership skills, willingness to collaborate, the ability to tolerate risk, and the capacity to work with constructive criticism.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The USCCOF challenges citizens from around the world to write a story that highlights the importance of human needs. Write a story (between 1,000 and 2,000 words) about: ‘someone that wants something badly, but has a difficult time getting it.’
Here is a 1 sentence example - Indiana Jones & Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981): Archeologist and university Professor Indiana Jones (someone) must retrieve the mythic Lost Ark of the Covenant (something) before it gets into the hands of Adolf Hitler (difficult time) who plans on using its power to guarantee his global conquest.
